Must not succumb to temptation and skip ahead.... Much to my mother's dismay, when reading mysteries, I have this awful habit of skimming the final chapter to see who or what the culprit is before I am even half-way through the book. Mom claims that this ruins the story by taking the mystery out of it. I don't entirely agree but decided to humour her nonetheless and behave myself (it happens occasionally).
"Hanging by a Hair" by Nancy J. Cohen was my first experience with the "Bad Hair Day Mysteries" and I found the book to be a delightful read. Marla and Dalton are endearing, yet humanly flawed characters. Their characters were well developed and the story was well written and flowed smoothly. It had the kind of irritating, villainous neighbor everyone loves to hate (Alan Krabber - unfortunately for Marla and Dalton, also the president of the local homeowners' association) and a fitting amount oh humour, which I enjoyed greatly. I would not hesitate to recommend this book to other fans of the genre and looks forward to reading more books by Ms. Cohen.
